British internet firms ordered to block Pirate Bay...

Pirate bay is the largest website that enables people to download movies, songs and videos for free and it uses torrent as main software for people to download. The problem has arises when pirate that provide service for people to have their latest movies and songs did not acknowledge the creator. Five internet service providers in Britain will be forced to block top file-sharing website The Pirate Bay under a High Court order issued Monday over copyright infringement (Malaysianews 2012). The movie’s director of song’s composer has the right to get something in return for their effort if people have published their work for people to download it.

Copyright is a law that gives you ownership over the things you create and people cannot simply publish your without your permission (Bailey 2011). The London court has send order to five leading internet providers to block all the traffic to pirate bay. Nevertheless, Torrent portal The Pirate Bay has posted an angry response to news yesterday that UK ISPs have been asked to block the Swedish site, accusing the High Court of promoting internet censorship (Dutton 2012). There is also a concept of fair use in copyright law which also in other words is known as free use, fair dealing or fair practice. Some said that fair use is just to weakened the copyright law but Masnick (2011) stats that, fair use is not about weakening copyright, it's about strengthening copyright, in making it more flexible to be able to bend, rather than break, when content is used in certain socially useful ways (what copyright law is supposed to encourage). The author further stated that, anti-fair use position does significantly more harm to copyright in the long run, in that it makes it less flexible, and makes it illegal to do things that people know at a fundamental level should be legal. Therefore, website that provide a service for people to download movies or songs have to give something in return for the creator to make it win win situation.

Social Media, Facebook Help People Stand Up in Tunisia, Egypt...

Social media is a kind of media that is highly accessible and scalable publishing technologies and it also known as social instrument of communication. The demonstration and politics have a fight in Egypt which it started in Tunisia in December 17 when the a young fruit vendor act as a protest. The main problem for this is that the official media which is newspaper, radio or television did not cover the event and this problem becomes worse when the reporter faced a problem of being harass on their way to city of sidi bouzid (Coz 2011).

Sidi Bouzid became a popular Twitter hashtag, and Facebook began filling with reports and information. The Internet was the place where pictures and videos of government repression were assembled for the world to see (Coz 2011). Due to the newspapers is being controlled by government in Tunisia; facebook has become one of the only medium for people where there is a freedom of speech. Freedom of speech is important in any country because people that live in the country have a right to voice out their disagreement of anything that the government has suggested. Facebook and YouTube has been blocked before to prevent people in the country share a photo and video of the repression happened in the country to people outside the country. Rumors and disinformation has been spread around the country and according to (Delaney) 2011, online social tools helped activists counter those who were trying to terrorize the population, helping to calm the entire situation down — they spread the message that people were helping to keep things in control. On the other hand, citizen journalism also helps countries to keep control of the problem that is going on under control. Citizen journalism is everyone owns a smartphone, it has become easier than ever to share events with the world as they unfold right in front of your eyes (Turnbull 2010). Social media and citizen journalism has help a lot on Tunisia revolution.

The highly sexual art of selling perfume...

Advertisement is use to let people know the emerging of the brand in the market and it also use to reinforce people mind about the brand. People that have use the brand before might forget about the brand if there is no advertisement going on. Advertisement also can effects people’s mind by creating salience which is the propensity of consumer to think about the brand when they in the purchase occasion. Other than that, advertisement has to use attractive pictures and images to attract people’s attention to see the ads. Some advertisers uses sexy pictures that is surely to attract people attention to see the ads but it is not appropriate to use and it will touch sensitivity issues among races as well.
Advertisers is largely using sexy picture to advertise the perfume because they think that sexy images will attract most people attention. Sexual images in advertising and throughout the media define what is sexy and more importantly who is sexy and sex in advertising is pornographic because it dehumanizes and objectifies people, especially women, and because it fetishists products, imbues them with an erotic charge – which dooms us to disappointment since products can never fulfill our sexual desires or meet our emotional needs (Kilbourne1999). Sexy pictures is really attractive but the question is should consumer buy the product advertised? The answer is the products advertise using sexy images is not necessary good. Two thirds of women thought that advertisers had gone too far in using sex to sell product and use of sexual imagery in advertising has been criticized on various grounds and religious Conservatives often consider it obscene (Banisauskas 2010). Moeran (2011) has stated that, in selling perfume is not essential in using attractive images because people bought a perfume based on the smells and not the model they use for the advertisement. The authors further states that, the model they use foe the advertisement is not so much regarded as the essential part because if the smells is not nice that people won’t buy the perfume. All in all, the use of sexy images is not a promised that sex always the essential ways of selling products.

Screen Vs Print Media Design...

screen VS print
There are two types of media that people usually used which is print media and screen media. What are this print and screen media? Print media is the type of media such as magazine advertisement, product design and packaging and newspaper. On the other hand, screen media is the type of media such as standard website, email newsletter and banner advertising. Miller (2012) quoted that, “the basic difference of print and screen media is that when designing for print you will end up with a finished product that someone can hold in their hand, and when designing for the web you will generally work on an ever-evolving piece viewed on a computer display”. There are significant differences in the layout design for both media.

For print media:
  • Spaces is measured in inches
  • Dealing with anything such as billboard and banner
  • The space must me consistent from start until finish and it must be the same look for everyone to see
For screen media:
  • Pixels is used to measure space
  • The important way to keep people always open the website is the consistent design and navigation
  • Designing your sites to look the best on all size monitors and at all monitor resolutions (Miller 2012).

In print media same text formatted using industry standard page layout software (QuarkXpress) using styles and a layout specifically designed with the content and target users and in screen media hypertext using a style sheet and layout specifically designed with the content and target users (Benetos 2005).
